I used to wish I could fly

Thought up there in the sky I might scape from time

But I grew too big to hide

As I once learned to walk, I should learn to drive

 

And own the path I was leading

 

I used to stay back and lie down

Never had the control that I do now

Heading north or going south

The directions on the road are mine to figure out

 

But freedom is deceiving

When you don’t know what you’re achieving

 

The rain hits the windshields

The sky loses its light

The road in front of me

starts to go out of sight

I try to keep my focus

where I should arrive

If I shall crash than better

to enjoy the ride

 

I’ve gotten lost a couple times

Maybe got distracted by the melodies and lines

But when I listen to the sounds and rhymes

clouds begin to disappear and the sun shines

 

Each note I sing is healing

I found my peace un screaming

 

And even when I arrive

I might not get out of the car

with the world ending outside

and a river by the door

Cause I know what I am leaving

But I know what I am leaving
